Pizcando Cherries

$400.00

I am thrilled to partner with Community to Community @foodjusticec2c on a meaningful limited edition print that honors and celebrates the contributions of the nation’s farmworkers.

Community to Community Development (C2C) is a women-led grassroots organization dedicated to food sovereignty and immigrant rights in WA state and beyond.

“We strive to reclaim our humanity by redefining power in order to end structural racism and all of its manifestations including settler colonialism, capitalism, and patriarchy in their external and internalized forms.” -C2C

As many of you know I am moving to WI this fall to pursue my MFA, which means that I will be leaving a place I have called home for almost 10 years now. The relationships and connections I have built over the course of my time in the Yakima Valley have been impactful not just in my artistic career, but on a personal level as well. Living in Yakima taught me to create work that is meaningful and gives voice to the social realities of la gente del Valle whose work often goes unnoticed. And I want to thank all for supporting my work and for being a part of this chapter in my artistic journey.

With that said, I want to introduce a limited edition linoleum cut print that captures a farmworker picking Santina Cherries in Yakima, WA. 40% of the proceeds from each print sold will be donated directly to Community to Community, empowering them to continue their vital work and create lasting positive change in our communities!

*This print is part of the essential worker series, and is a linocut print with an edition of 18. To learn more about Community to Community Development and the impactful work they are doing please visit: www.foodjustice.org You can also make direct donations on their site!

This piece is part of the “Essential Workers,” series.

The design was sketched and carved by hand, then printed with traditional oil based printmaking ink onto 100% cotton, acid free paper. Each piece will be titled, signed and labeled as an Edition of 18.

*Each print (the cherries) will be individually hand painted with watercolor paint before shipment.

Each print is produced using a manual printing press, therefore, each print will be unique and may differ slightly from the pictured original. This is the beauty of linoleum block printing.

Paper Size: 15”x22”

Image Size: 12”x17.5”

Paper: Canson Edition

*print does not come framed

Shipping: Prints are carefully packaged and shipped in an art tube within 3-5 business days.

*The photos that I took were captured early June 2021 @washingtonfruit farm before the heatwave. At the time the workers were picking Santina Cherries.
